W8 Monday How to make friends
Making friends should be so easy. But it can be stressful. What if they don’t like me? What if I say something silly? All these thoughts run through our heads. Well here are some tips. Say Hello Sounds simple doesn’t it? However, many children forget to say hello or introduce themselves. When you do say “hi” to another child you need to look at them (eye contact) and smile too! This signals to the other child that you are being friendly. Get Talking Most of us enjoy it when others show interest in us. Ask “What are doing?”, “Can I play too?”, or “What’s that?” are good ways of starting up a conversation.
They are also a way of testing the waters to see if the other child is interested in getting to know you too. When the other child starts talking, show interest in what the other child says. Then share something about yourself too. All this helps to build a connection. Be flexible It’s great for you to suggest activities that you and the other child can do. However, if the other child wants to play another way or differently you may need to go with the flow. Turn-taking with ideas and games can develop once you work out if this is someone they want to spend more time with.
Watch Video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY25L9BXRww
Now once you have made a friend, the next job is to keep them. Todays activity shows 3 different scenarios or situations. Your job is to use the text box to describe how you would respond if you were a good friend,

W8 Thursday What makes a good FRIEND?
Learning Intention: to learn the effects a good friend can have on our lives Success Criteria: I can identify the qualities of a fake friend In interacting with friends, we learn many social skills, such as how to communicate, cooperate, and solve problems. True friends don’t expect anything in return for your friendship. They like you for who you are and they expect the same in return. Friends offer an excellent way to get rid of stress and sadness.
The company of our friends makes us forget our sorrows and any unwanted pressure. Plus, we can openly ask our friends for suggestions on how to solve our personal problems and they would be glad to help us out. Remember it’s not the quantity but the quality that matters. So what makes a good friend.
Watch the video Then do the sorting activity by dragging friendship qualities into good friends and bad friends columns. Watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbtsEws5zt8
Complete the activity on Seesaw. Sort out the qualities of a good friend and a fake friend
